The Easiest 5 Ingredient Fried Chicken

I don’t think anything gets people more excited than fried chicken. But yes, like everything, my recipe for fried chicken is the easiest possible version with only 5 ingredients.

I marinate in yogurt (hands down better than buttermilk), coat in self rising flour and then fry. That’s it! I promise you can do it.

Easiest Fried Chicken

Ingredients
1 cup whole milk yogurt
1 teaspoon salt, plus additional
2 pounds chicken pieces
Peanut oil for frying (minimum 3 cups or 24 ounces)
1 1/2 cups self rising flour

Combine the yogurt and salt. Add the chicken and coat. Place in the fridge for at least an hour or up to overnight if you have time.

When you are ready to cook, bring the oil up to 350-400 degrees (if you don’t have a thermometer just stick a chopstick in and if bubbles form around it - but is not boiling - it is hot enough). Dredge the chicken in the flour and then add to the pan. Cool for 6 to 10 minutes, turning once, until the chicken is 155 degrees internal temperature (if you don’t have a thermometer I would do 6 to 8 mins for drumsticks and 8 to 10 mins thighs). Add a dash of salt and any hot sauce or topping you want and eat hot!
