It was such a treat to be interviewed by The Washington Post about 15 Minute Meals — they shared the inspirations behind the book and a few of the “clever shortcut[s]” in the book. They also included one of my favorite recipes from the book, the shrimp fried rice that uses the flavorful combo of sriracha, ginger and garlic powder. Give it a look!
Read MoreI use Dutch ovens pretty much daily, so I was thrilled to chat with the Wall Street Journal about which ones I think work best. I personally have Le Creuset, Staub and Great Jones versions and I love them all in different contexts. But this article gives a wonderful overview, so check it out here!
Read MoreI love anything that makes life easier so I was very excited to chat with Priya Krishna about microwaving rice for the New York Times.
Read MoreI don’t think anything gets people more excited than fried chicken. But yes, like everything, my recipe for fried chicken is the easiest possible version with only 5 ingredients.
I marinate in yogurt (hands down better than buttermilk), coat in self rising flour and then fry. That’s it! I promise you can do it.

Read MoreThanksgiving turkey? Who needs her? With COVID going on, my family’s Thanksgiving is going to be much smaller than usual this year. Instead of basing a massive turkey, I’ve decided to go with making smaller, individual cornish hens. The name sounds fancy, but I promise you - this is the easiest thing you’ll be making this holiday.
Read MoreWe had the quintessential fall day on Sunday - apple picking followed by cider donuts. I think a lot of people get scared to make cider donuts because they don’t have the right pan or they don’t want to fry them, but I have a secret: if you bake them and eat them warm, then the rest of it doesn’t matter at all. Easiest recipe below - all you need is a muffin tin and a dream!

I know, I know. The title of this post is intentionally trying to make you look. But it’s also true, because one of our favorite writers, Kenji López-Alt of Serious Eat’s Food Lab, is taking his time before creating a followup to his smash first cookbook. Lucky for me (and anyone with kids in their life) his next project was a kids book all about celebrating diversity in food. The book is Every Night is Pizza Night and it explores what it really means for a single food to be the best. It’s a conversation we all have, children and adults.
I had a wonderful chat with Kenji about the book, the importance of trying unfamiliar foods, and what is up next on his docket.
Read MoreI am a massive fan of Za’atar. Usually it’s a combination of thyme or oregano and sesame seeds. I was introduced to za’atar by my mother-in-law who is Israeli, but you will see za’atar all over the Middle East and in North Africa.
Read MoreWhen I had my son suddenly everyone started talking to me about ‘baby food’ and ‘kid food.’ I had never been raised with the idea that somehow kids got to eat something different - we always just ate whatever my parents ate. And from having lived in India and watching kids eat an array of flavors it struck me as a sort of bizarre thing that our culture has imparted on us, that kids need to start with blander food. People now ask me all the time how I got Guy to eat and I always say it’s simple really: he never had a choice! Kids are sponges and you can teach them to love and appreciate food by giving them diversity and flavors from an early age.
Read MoreI’m a total sucker for any dish that comes in a little contained bowl. It’s cute, fun and makes everything feel like a party. It’s even better when it’s easy. These little circular summer squash make the perfect vessel for a summery, simple delight. Pre-cooked crab meat and a little bit of cheese round out this dish - it’s as easy as can be but somehow still feels like a special occasion. And don’t fret if you don’t have this kind of squash - you could make this just as easily with your standard piece of zucchini.
